Perceived Value
Perceived value is what a customer or prospect thinks your offer is worth. And regardless of the price that you apply to it, this is all that really matters in the marketplace. The fundamental element of any business transaction is a value exchange. Only when a buyer and seller agree on the form and amount of the value exchange, will a transaction actually occur. More often than not, the value exchange is in the form of a product or service in return for cash. Of course there can be many other ways to conduct a transaction as well. Regardless of the form that it takes however, unless both buyer and seller perceive that an equal value exchange has occurred, the transaction will not happen.
For that reason, the perceived value not only of your products and services, but of your brand itself, is very important. The more value that people associate with your brand, the more successful you will be. This is why it is essential when creating your brand messaging to focus on the value that you convey.
But brand value is more than a message. Brand value is based on your actions, and how you conduct your business. All of the marketing hype in the world will not improve a brand that does not convey sufficient or adequate value. For that reason, it is essential that the entrepreneur focus their entire business model on providing massive value to their customers.
Infusing your business model with a focus on value first requires understanding the problems that your prospective clients face, and how your business offering can solve them. When these two elements come together, you have the beginning of a compelling value proposition (CVP), the most critical aspect of your basic business transaction. By focusing on consistently delivering compelling value, your business will expand geometrically.
Your brand is essentially your reputation. As customers begin to experience doing business with you, and get a sense for the quality that they receive, your brand image and identity is forged. By ensuring that you are consistently delivering unanticipated value, far beyond the customers’ expectations, only then will you achieve long-term business success.
