Snagging the job you’ve always wanted, especially that of your field, is not easy nowadays. With the economy on crisis things may be harder than ever before. But here’s something, passing the resume isn’t the last thing that you should worry about, impressing employer and making it lasting is definitely one that’s most nerve wrecking. Here are some tips to ace that job interview.

1. Practice makes perfect. Try to imagine how you’ll introduce yourself especially answering questions during interview. Think of the usual questions that may come up and answer. Try to also catch on those not even related to what you’ve applied for. We may never know, you might need it in the near future.

2. Research. Try to find out more about the company you applied to. There are many avenues that you can check out like the internet, magazines, even people who have worked for them (if you know any).

3. Dress well. Outfit is everything. It can make or break the impression you wish to give your employer. For men it is always safe to go for single breasted suits especially 2 button to 3 button men’s suits. 2 button men’s suits is the most common in today’s market and the 3 button men’s suits are actually more formal and snuggly.

Women on the other hand should avoid miniskirts, spaghetti straps, sloppy clothing and strappy sandals. Go for a more formal look like blazers, collared blouses and slacks. Shoes must be closed, pumps, or loafers.

4. Accessories should be simple. Don’t look too flashy, make sure that you get to wear some accessories which give small details that doesn’t overpower. Keep at most two jewelry, a necklace and earrings. Remember to keep it simple by avoiding dangling earrings or big jeweled ones. Keep the pendants small as well and not an eye catcher.

5. Do something while you’re at it. Bring a book or any reading material that you can use while waiting for a call inside the interviewer’s office. It’s better to keep yourself busy rather than idle waiting for your turn.

It’s not easy snagging that perfect job. But one thing that must be well remembered when in a job interview is to be honest and always wear a smile. Attitude is the best thing that could land you that job.
