Unemployed and Giving Up? There Are Options
When unemployment is going up there are those that find the stress too much. They may have the assumption that they are too old, overqualified, or lack the right skills for the then prevailing job list. In this type of economy, pessimism can begin to creep in. The worse part is thinking there is no work available, and what I am going to do? WAIT…There is hope!
Although there are some states that have been hit the worse, the focal point to me it that there are still 90% of the work force working. Of the unemployed, some 4-5% are not working because of choice. The first thing you need to do is quit reading the headlines and listening to the speculators and take positive action.
That positive action means step Number 1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. YES YOU CAN. AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE TO DO.
In a world of politics, television and instant news, it is common to be bombarded with negative thoughts and discouragement. This type of discouragement is a way to keep you watching and reading the news. Staying at home and watching the news keeps the ratings up for sure. Today is the day for you to break the mold.
If you want a job you can find one. It may not be what you want, but there are still jobs. Going back to school to learn a new skill set is an option as well as getting away from what you are used to doing. My personal suggestion is this: If you CAN’T FIND A JOB, MAKE ONE!
Today you can find businesses to do from home, or outside the home with investment ranges as low as $500.00 to $20,000.00. I have been self employed for over 25 years and quite frankly, I would be more nervous trying to work for someone else than starting a new business. I can’t deny that times are a little tougher, but then again, how long could we go with the ease we had. Starting businesses was a lot easier in the early 2000,s, yet now is still a great time to have a small business or franchise.
Money is moving through our economy and the United States has a pipeline of wealth ready for you to tap into. I have traveled to enough countries to know that we still have a land of opportunity. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO GIVE UP. Whether you have skills or not, there is an opportunity out there for you. Skills are not requisite, attitude is. Jobless workers today are the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. As business models change or even go out of style, there are those that are starting and growing. Of course this isn’t done overnight. GM didn’t grow overnight and didn’t fail overnight.
If unemployment rates are up, be aware that you will be able to find more people to assist you in your new business or franchise. Look at this time as an opportunity not a crisis.
I spoke to a new franchise owner 2 weeks ago and he explained to me that his business is brand new and he is seeing the fastest growth in his particular franchises history. He also explained to me he is finding the best employees he has ever had.
If you need assistance it is there. The SBA offers some, consultants offer some and many business opportunities offer great assistance. Have fun, lift up your head and give it a go. YOU CAN DO IT.
