One of the neatest networking ideas that I’ve discovered is to clip articles from newspapers, magazines, and trade journals and send them to my friends that are involved in those types of endeavors or businesses. If someone you know has a hobby, and you find an interesting article somewhere that has to do with that hobby, clip that article and stick it in the mail and send it to them. Or if you have their e-mail address scan it into your computer, as an attachment file and e-mail it as soon as possible.

If you are networking with someone on a social network, that also helps both of your businesses you might consider sending links to articles, information, white papers, or reports that you find that have to do with their area of expertise, industry or sector. Occasionally, I find that other people I know send me copies of books, articles, or information, and I realize that they care about what I’m doing and want to make sure that I’m up on the latest information.

Perhaps, it is for this reason that I do the same thing with those people I meet whether they are online or in the real world. You can make a lot of friends that way, and also helps your mind put yourself into their shoes and think from their perspectives. It will make you more intelligent, and help you see the world in ways that you would not normally have enjoyed it.

Why not do this? Why not scan all the media sources and all the places that you normally get information and pick five people that you associate with and send them articles that you found that they might be interested in seeing, that they may not have time to read. I think what you’ll find is that people are very happy to receive that information and they will remember you in the future, in case they have a client, or referral for you.

Even though I am retired now, I still like to do this, and once again if you develop a habit of doing this, you will do it on a regular basis and you will have more business associates, and network with more people on a more personal level. This will help you in all the endeavors in your life. Please consider all this.
