There are some things you do that you would never tell anyone. We have to admit tonight was one of those. WE ATE AT FOSTER FREEZE! O.K there it is, its out I just felt like getting that out of the way before we begin our blog. Yes it was fating, clog your artery so good if you must know…I think its been 5-10 years since we did that.

When we got home we just wanted to chill, we have been working crazy lately on about everything you can think of as… I am sure a lot of you have.

We had picked up a local wine recently from the Santa Cruz Mountains and decided to decant it and give it a try. As we removed the cork a very, very fruity aroma hit the nose. We poured it into our decanter and let it breath a little. After about 30 minutes KD poured us a sample and even though this is a four year old wine it was still young evident by the color of dark ruby red. As we all know a wine starts to fade in color when it reaches it peak. As we swirled and smelled we both noticed pretty thick legs as they cascaded down the sides of the glass.

Now the taste obvious by our first and second taste this wine was not ready to drink. I liked the structure, it was not a light weight wine just still to many tannins that needed to soften, and over power the berry fruit that was attempting to come through. Plus the alcohol was a little overwhelming and after going to the site to get a little history: http://www.zayantevineyards.com/featured.html.

I found out it had 13.6% alcohol, not the most we have ever had in wine…but KD commented that it was a little like Cough Syrup with a very long finish!!!! I know shame on her but I saw were she was coming from. So my thoughts are and the Wine maker makes this a point…This wine can lay down and age for about 5 to 8 years. This wine was just not ready right know to drink…give it another few years and we will see. This wine will cost you around $20.00 to $25.00 dollars.

- We rate this wine (O.K) Right Now!

- Here are our Ratings: / Pass / Fair / O.K / Good / Great / Fantastic

Disclaimer: Just because we like or dislike a wine does not mean that you will have the same experience. Of course it’s always worth a try….tell us what you think??
