In this rather fun game you’ve gotta investigate the mysterious and the bizarre happenings at a local theme park. In your quest, you have to find a lot of hidden objects and solve quite a lot of riddles along the course of the game.
The once marvelous and glitzy local theme park of Spears Renaissance Faire has now lost its glory. A fave among tourists, this park is now overrun by “friendly ghosts”, whose rather friendly overtures have driven the tourists away. Adding to the woes was the demise of the owners of Spears Renaissance Faire – Robert and Margaret. Now, the park is run by by their son Robbie and his constantly bickering Leah – the new Mrs. Spears. Now, it’s up to you how you’re gonna save the park and helps it reclaim its splendor.
The course of the investigation is indeed very challenging as it will take you on one helluva roller coaster ride that will take you through a plethora of places like the bakery, jeweler and Gnome Home to name a few. Some of these interesting locales have obscure objects and riddles. Solving the final hurdle will help you win an item, which you can take with you. This will in turn help you crack the mystery in the park. Most of these riddles range from the mundane to the exotic, and includes finding the key to unlock a door to finding the exact gift to help a gnome woo his girlfriend.
Phantom of the Renaissance Faire is excellent across the board, and at the same time it’s extremely adaptive to your style of play and interests. This makes it a sure shot winner. For example, at the start of the game, you have the option of taking hints. However, as you get the hang of it, you can change the settings. Another interesting fact is that if you opt for the more challenging mode, you will get to use “Magic Eye” – this helps you examine a hidden object and gives you clues so that you are on the look out for changes as you progress in the game.
Another feel good feature of this game is its graphics. Based on an actual theme park, the detailing and perfection in the graphics is really telling. So much so that you feel that you’re traveling through a real locale searching for clues in real buildings. By the end of the game, you will feel that you have really toured Spears Faire. This in a way adds to the emotional connect with this game.
