Yes this article “exposes” the South Beach diet. Even though it has been used by celebrities through which it gained it’s enormous popularity doesn’t mean it’s as great as everyone claims. Although there are alot of popular reviews, this article goes further into the diet, how it works, and most importantly long term benefits where the diet does start to receive negative reviews.
The purpose of the South Beach diet is to change one’s eating habits and rid himself/herself of carb cravings almost completely. This is done through 3 phases. Though it takes a long time to explain each phase, the quick summary of the phases is this: You gradually lessen your carb intake and substitute your meals with more low carb meals.
The whole process take about 3-4 weeks to complete the diet. People generally lose around 10 pounds in the first 2-3 weeks. But before you go and try it, read on because the important part is coming.
Dr.Agatson, the creator of this diet believes carbs are the key source of health/weight problems because once foods that are full of carbs are broken down, they in turn create fat and other unhealthy reaction in the body which lead to weight gain and health problems. And in order to attain weight loss and improve one’s health, the body must stop consuming carbs.
This diet has been compared to the popular Atkins diet because it too focuses on the same purpose. Users who try this diet at first do experience positive results at first, but this of course varies amongst individuals.
