Blogging For Profit
When it’s done the right way, blogging is a nice earn money web idea that can turn a decent profit. So what is the right way?
Is it best to use a free service like Blogger or pay for your own domain and hosting? Personally, I prefer to have a small network of blogs using both paid hosting and popular free blog services. I use paid hosting to set up the main blog sites and then set up other blogs on popular blog service platforms to promote the main blog sites. When you use a free blog service, you’re tied to their software and their way of doing things. Having your own domain gives you added flexibility. Being able to use WordPress on your own site, for example, and having posts listed by categories is more advantageous than using a free service that lists them only by date. The advantage to blogging on the popular free services is that they already have a lot of authority and trust with the search engines, so you can use the pull of those blogs to promote and build back links to your main blog.
You’ll need to decide on a niche that you want to go after. It should be something that you’re already knowledgeable in or are at least willing to learn about. You’ll have to write about it quite a bit so it’s best to pick your niche wisely. Unless you want to write a blog in order to create a niche, it’s best to find a niche that already has people interested in it. You can use the search engines to look for popular niches, if you need help.
For your blogs to succeed, you need to provide quality content that is updated regularly. People and search engines love regularly updated, quality content. If you can’t commit to doing this, then reconsider blogging. To earn money web blogging, and keep visitors and search engines coming back, your content will need to be fresh and compelling. Do your research and find out what kind of people are attracted to your niche.
Your content has to create a connection between you, your blog, and your reader. You have to speak their language and write about things that are important to them. If your content is mostly non-important fluff, your visitor won’t be compelled to come back for more. Create a schedule for yourself and stick to it as much as possible. Your blog will need fresh content and promotion on an ongoing basis, so treat it like your job and show up when you’re supposed to.
You need traffic, so go after it from as many different angles as you can. Once you have your niche, look for around 20 long-tailed keywords that relate to your niche. To do this you can use an ‘allintitle’ search to find keywords that have low competition, less than 1000 sites, the lower and the better. Create your own hosted blogs for each of those low competition keywords with content that links them to your main blog. Since there was little competition for these long-tailed keywords, with some good promotion, you should be able to get a good rank in the search engines.
Make sure your blogs all have RSS feeds and use some of the popular free blog services to create network using the RSS feeds. Make sure you have a good ping list and submit your blog to the search engines and the blog directories. Post on other peoples blogs once a week and include your site URL. Create a high quality article once a week, submit it to places like Ezine.com, and Go Articles.com, and be sure to include your blog address in the Author’s info area. The better your article is the higher you chances that others will publish it and put your URL out there for the search engines to find.
Wait at least 4-6 weeks before trying to monetize your blogs. You want the search engines to notice your content and the regularity of your posts and give you a good search ranking. After a while, when you start getting traffic, you can start adding AdSense, affiliate links, and monetizing strategies.
These tips should help you to get started, and the only guarantee I can make is that it will take lots of good hard work and effort. Keep learning, stay focused and dedicated, and the rewards from your earn money web blog will come.
