Many small businesses are trying online strategies to get new business, and this makes sense. Still, they spend a huge amount of time playing on social media without a lot of success. Further, many of them turn to E-commerce strategies to sell their wares online. Often, they find that their types of products and services do not really lend themselves to online sales. Still, they see others trying, so they try too.

What invariably happens is a few players compete for seemingly non-existent volume online and go after one another, even when both of their real competition is down the street from their own stores’ locations. This is a really bad way to play it, as it is completely a waste of energy and a word to the wise; “Do Not Trash the Competition in Ecommerce; You’ll Be Sorry.”

There is no sense in starting a cat fight online besides it only causes problems locally as some of your customers read the garbage that is slung around, it’s almost as if it would have been better for your reputation had you not ever gone online in the first place.

You should welcome comparison, and you should acknowledge the competition, or you could just ignore them completely depending on your market position on the Internet in the search engine rankings. Nevertheless, if you choose to go ahead on and trash the competition online you will be sorry, because two can play at that game, and the last thing you want are misleading statements and slander about your e-commerce company online.

Reviews, and ratings actually do matter to Internet consumers and someone who is unscrupulous in your industry could help your ratings into the garbage. I hope you will please consider all this, before you start an online verbal war.
